Best Photography-related Youtube Video for 2014*

*In my not-so-humble opinion, and yes, it’s a commercial.

Leica’s video commemorating their 100 year history was beautifully shot, sensitively narrated by John Hurt, and worth your while watching. Bonus points if you can identify at least some of the photos they recreated, but even if you can’t, it does not hurt the sheer visual joy it provides.

So many things could have fallen flat, but it came together wonderfully.

[NSFW] I miss Paris

I recently watched The Dreamers, a 2003 Bernardo Bertolucci film set in Paris circa 1968. It was a beautifully shot film. And it made me pine for Paris in a way I thought I wouldn’t. I’m not sure when (or if) I’d get to go again, so I did the next best thing: look through photographs I took while I was there. And I found one that I had overlooked in my first few passes from my shoot with Sara Scarlet.

Some photos just take its time to grow, to invite you to sink your teeth in slowly. The only criteria I have for selecting a photo, any photo, is what it made me feel at the time. That’s really all that matters to me.

The good news is, I’m working out a workshop with Sara and her co-model, scheduled for late-April 2015. More details soon.

[NSFW] Killer heels

Sometimes, photography classifications mystify me. Is this photo art nude, nude, glamour, boudoir, or fashion nude? That kind of discussion is boondoggle to me, this is just a photo I like, and am glad I took.

What isn’t in doubt though, are the heels she wore. Man, those are beautiful.

Still editing the photos from my shoots with Anita slowly, in between editing other work, spending time with family and friends, and some quality video game time. More soon.
